Google Ads
Google ads doesn't allow the usage of standard Smartlinks. This is due to their restriction on Landing pages that serve to only drive traffic elsewhere and a requirement that a page have substantial original content. As a result, our Smartlinks for Google ads contain a footer with a menu and additional content such as song description and lyrics. Neither of which is it necessary to display on any other platform.
Monetization
Turning on monetization allows you to join our revenue pool by having ads run on your Smartlinks. It's entirely optional and we pay based on the percentage of traffic generated by your links. We plan to open up monetization by the second quarter of 2025. All traffic up to and beyond that point will contribute to your payout once monetization is activated.
YouTube
Posting a YouTube video link allows listeners to enjoy the full track without needing to take additional steps. Activating this feature impacts the performance of your link in a number of ways. One, the goal of most visitors is to hear the song and once that's done, their goal is accomplished. As a result, they're far less likely to take further action unless they have strong feelings for the song. The upside is that the people clicking through to service providers like Spotify are more inclined to take positive actions that reflect positively on the algorithm which can lead to greater impact. The downside is you'll get fewer listeners and streams initially. Someone that may not feel strong enough about a song to take action if there are too many steps involved, may take action with fewer steps like only having to click the "heart" button in a streaming app.
