Landr distribution is owned and operated by Landr the tech company and is an expansion of their services. One of the first, if not the first, companies to offer AI audio mastering as a service, Landr has proven staying power and reliability. With its host of services, its offer goes far beyond digital distribution and it might be the best distributor for Producers – those composing instrumentals – and self-recording artists.
One thing about Landr I’m not a fan of is the constant change of their pricing. Clearly, they’re still figuring things out, but their pricing seems to change every year. In 2020 it was one thing, in 2021 another thing, and then changed again in 2022, and now in 2023, they’ve changed again. It’s not a good thing. The current offer gives artists a choice between models. You can choose to pay per release and sacrifice a percentage of revenue or pay annually for unlimited music distribution which allows you to keep 100% of revenue.
The reason to use Landr is their bundles that include audio mastering and other services. Landr Studio combines unlimited audio mastering, access to over 2 million samples for use in production, courses, and $2K worth of plugins. Plus, artists are granted access to their live streaming service called “Collaborate” where they can patch in their DAW and stream sessions live with collaborators. When it comes to distribution alone, I’d rather use Tunecore or CD Baby than Landr.
